Lorna Lyle

Artist Bio

 Lorna has enjoyed creating art ever since her encounter with finger paints and an easel in kindergarten.

While in high school, she lived in Brazil with an artistic family for a year as an exchange student, admiring her host mother's portraits in oil paint, and her host father's wood carvings. 

A broadcasting and film degree earned from Boston University's School of Public Communication entailed writing, graphics and photography.

Lorna’s career in publishing and marketing involved mail and Web design, and enhanced her appreciation of color, layout and typefaces.

Lorna studied various media then zeroed in on abstract and landscape painting at the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan, CT. She credits artist and instructor David Dunlop with helping her see landscapes in a new way.

California's scenery and biodiversity intrigue, amaze and inspire Lorna. She is drawn toward landscapes and abstracts inspired by botanical sources. Lorna continues to paint in acrylic, lately at an easel in her Acalanes Adult Education class or her garage.

Lorna served as president of Las Juntas~East Bay Artists Guild from 2023 to 2026. She is currently vice president and programs coordinator.
