Community Art Outreach

At Pleasant Hill's Concerts at the Lake, Glynda Dixon introduced children and many parents to drawing with colored pencils. For most of them it was new. Many people think art is a big messy experience, with water, oils, big canvases and then a lot of cleaning up. Colored pencils proved to be fun, creative and “clean”! They had a wonderful time and were very proud of their work. Several parents thanked us for having the art table available.

What was really priceless were some of their comments and questions. One of the kids suddenly asked me, “Who is your favorite artist?” I didn’t quite know what to say.“Have you seen the Picasso exhibit? My class saw the exhibit and my favorite artist is Picasso.”
